The facilities are primarily used by SFS, Gippsland Sheep Breeders Association, but also community groups, schools, and sheepdog trials. SFS also uses the site for broadacre cropping, pasture and livestock research, which is used to improve the practices of Gippsland farmers. GSBA utilise the sheep yards onsite to conduct activities for sheep currently agisted on the trial site. SFS aims to replace the fence and yard infrastructure at the site, install a digital weight scales race, enabling SFS to improve livestock data collection related to research activities and the GSBA to conduct more efficient livestock at the site.

The local farming sector will benefit from independent livestock and pasture research data relevant to Gippsland, thereby improving management practices, productivity, profitability and sustainability. The data gained from SFS, GSBA will be available to farmers through field days that are held and through the local media. The sheep yards will improve the facilities at the aerodrome that will make it more of a hub for livestock activities. The increased profitability of Gippsland farmers improves community morale and revenue in local towns.
