Ordinary people from across Melbourne’s west have been opening their homes and hearts to welcome people who are new to Australia by exchanging stories and foods from their cultures. We would like to support those dishes which are selected as the ‘Home Welcome Dinner food favourites’ to be shared with thousands of people at cooking demonstrations and Community Welcome Dinners. Both newly arrived and established Australians would get the opportunity to teach and learn how these dishes are made, and share their food stories.
Coming together over a shared meal, all community members will build deeper connections, a shared sense of belonging and better physical and mental health. With Wyndham being one of the fastest growing areas in Melbourne, there is also a growing appetite in the community to gather over food. The connections people make help create a more harmonious community based on a shared love of food; pride in our cultural stories; and a need to feel that we belong where we live.

Everyone has a taste to something and would like to tell someone who doesn't have a taste for it. And perhaps test it out if they want to. This is a wonderful way to celebrate unity in diversity.

Beautiful idea! How would the fund help get this up and going? Doesn't sound like something that woukd need a lot of money to get started.
Thanks for considering the idea. Pick my project is supervised by department of premier. Chief secretary is leading the project with his team. While submitting the application, budget was splitted into different categories. Then they asked for more clarification and I resent detailed breakdown and reasons of expenses, then they approved my project for online voting. This isn’t easy the way it looks like to see on the website for voting. ☺️
