Fabric destined for land fill and sewing machines will be available for the community to make reusable bags and other creative textile items. A diverse selection of reusable cloth bags will be available to the community instead of single use plastic bags. Sewing Station will inspire and educate our community to close the loop through our use of textiles by hosting affordable and accessible workshops e.g. beeswax wrap making, upcycling fashion, basic repair techniques, creative textile objects. Fabric will be sourced from organisations such as Lifeline South West Victoria who would normally send unwanted fabric to landfill.

Sewing Station Warrnambool will teach basic sewing skills to make bags, repair clothes, upcycle clothing and create non-wearable textile items and objects through providing accessible and affordable workshops. The workshops will be held in a centrally accessible location to encourage community involvement and awareness. The project will also provide opportunity for formal and informal discussion on the environmental impact of single use plastic items and the textile industry. Connections with like-minded community members will be established at the sewing venue and through an active social media presence, namely Facebook.
