Such a great idea for community engagement, as well as social aspects for veterans within our local and greater communities. This would be a great project for all those involved.

The Serving On program will give military veterans and families the skills, opportunities, and support to continue to serve the community through purposeful volunteering work and impactful projects. Veterans and their families will be recruited and trained to participate in a range of community projects and volunteering roles, which will directly benefit people and communities in Victoria.
Serving On does not just focus on one single project. One of the key objectives of the program is to identify various community needs and offer volunteer assistance that is sustainable and effective. This allows support and projects in a greater geographical area.
As the Serving On program does not focus on just one project, it will have greater reach within the community. It will also be mutually beneficial to the service community, allowing them to continue to serve their nation.
Over the 12-month period, Serving On VIC will focus on five key areas:
- Children and Youth (through mentoring projects and activities)
- Homelessness and Social Disadvantage (through food drives or other similar activities)
- Animal Welfare (in partnership with other charities)
- Environment (through restoration activities)
- Education (through learning activities)

What a great way to engage the community in a wider capacity and give people the feeling of value.
