Old playgrounds were removed to make space for new school buildings, and were not replaced by DET. Student leader groups have enthusiastically raised $6000 (so far) towards the playground and are holding a second-hand book fair in term three, however it will be difficult to achieve a new playground in the forseeable future, without assistance. Senior students in particular do not currently have a dedicated playground space, and the school is very keen to encourage physical activity in our adolescents. The school grounds are also a popular and safe meeting place for children and young families outside of school hours.

Childhood health and obesity is a significant issue in our region. WEPS is currently working toward accreditation as a Healthy Together Achievement School. As part of this program, the school is keen to promote and provide a variety of opportunities for children to engage in activity. Brophy Family and Youth Services (Warrnambool) are planning an after school sport program for students from our local public housing area, and our school will host this program. The playground would be the focal point for attendees and their families. Our senior students need play equipment suitable for their size.
