School Farm

The farm will be developed for students within the community, who will be provided with the opportunity to learn about farming, sustainability, produce and care for livestock. The farm will also act as a means for students who need to deescalate with programs for transitional and trauma afflicted students. The special school will be responsible for some of the associated maintenance of livestock and the construction of the project will involve the VCAL students. Local farmers and members of the community will be utilised in an ongoing basis to develop educational programs.

This project is about developing a greater community presence within the school. Through instilling values and responsibility to students, the school will build ties to the Maryborough farmers and community groups. The value within the school community will be seen through the availability of a space where trauma affected students can deescalate. The project will benefit the local community by developing greater values in the Maryborough's youth and provide them with a valuable skill set to make them an asset to local farmers and the community.
