Restoration of the Heritage stables would really enhance the popular Community garden & allow for it to expand. The Community House is a very important and well patronised part of Foster offering many activities and courses for the general public. Adding the Stables as a venue for further Community activities would be a huge asset to the local area.

On the site licenced to the Manna Gum Community House in Foster is a significant tree and the heritage Police Stables built in the late 1800s. Help save a significant slice of our history by voting to the fund restoration of the stables and create a much needed community space, open to all people to run and participate in a range of workshops/training/art/cultural activities. It would also provide for water tank capacity and the area will be enhanced by opening it up to the long standing Community Garden to expand into and create further garden beds.
The Community House and the 18 year old Community Garden (on what was a derelict police paddock) has become a vibrant and well patronised hub of Foster. Funding would assist is saving the only surviving evidence of the first police station in Victoria, the former stables are important for their ability to further illustrate and assist in interpreting the history of this site. Foster is in need of extra community space that would be available to the whole of the community to use to further our social cohesion by expanding the number of activities that can be offered

Thank you to all of the residents for their positive fb interaction, it has been very bonding. Maybe we can help each other to make some of these very important projects happen any way

My brother-in-law (Ian Strawhorn) was the last mounty at Foster (in the 1950s)
Wow would love some of that history and photos (if you have any)
It’s so important to restore and maintain our history. It’s also another great point of interest for the many tourists who come through the area.
As the last police stable it has huge historical heritage significance. Its preservation and renovation is so important and as it is located in a tourist centre will be enjoyed by many visitors
The last, old police stable of this design still standing in Victoria. It's a must. that it should be saved, and used as a public building.
Great asset to be developed for the whole community
very worthy project..great to be able to save and preserve such an historic site and as well be open to community use

I have great faith in the Manna Gum team, they do so many wonderful things for the community. I worked with them on the YEP project and the end result of one their projects, Paint the Skate Park, was fantastic! So many people, especially youth came along and the end result - a skate park renewed, looks awesome and inviting for young people in the area.
