The objective of this project is to stabilise the tree, protect its root system and the adjacent river channel and plant indigenous riparian species. This will stabilise the channel structure, improve the ecosystem and water quality. This tree is a middle aged manna gum in danger of falling into the creek in the next year.

The creek flows close to the football field further downstream where there is further erosion. This project will also protect this downstream section of the creek bank from erosion. Thus saving the football oval from falling into the creek.

The people of Warrandyte value their environment. This tree is middle-aged so it has many more years for the community to enjoy it. Large trees such as this are valuable for their beauty and their ability to provide fresh air and shade for us. They also provide homes and shelter for our wildlife. They are also important for carbon sequestration.

By slowing the flow of the creek and running it through a natural filter of plants the quality of the water will be improved. The water entering the Yarra will be cleaner. Healthier swimming! more platypus?

It takes decades and sometimes centuries for habitats to form and it's our responsibility to look after what we have.

The commitment shown by Robyn and her team in local Landcare projects is clearly evident. This is a much needed project, led by a knowledgeable, experienced and passionate community team. The project will definitely benefit the trees, creek, related ecosystems and community. This project will be great learning for those involved and the positive community impact will continue for years to come.

With all our support,
-Cynthia and the community at St Gregory's Primary School.

Yes indeedy Lyndy and all! Excellent comments! Even saving this one tree will help all the others and the wildlife, and all of our lives will be enhanced. And yes, awareness will be raised and erosion reduced. One tree is far more than just one tree. "We are one, but we are many."

I support this project because it is vital that the erosion to Andersons Creek be stopped as a number of trees will die. This will affect the wildlife in the area and impact further on the course of the creek.

I support this initiative. Having been to the Creek recently and seeing the hard work Robyn, Fritz and all the volunteers at the Anderson Creek Landcare Project put in, I would like to get behind their vision.

it's a great tree, very close to the footy grounds and if we can save this it will raise awareness at council / Melbourne Water levels about the negative impacts a rapidly draining built environment has directly on the river channels like this one but also longer term damage to water quality, groundwater stores, drought resilience and amenity. We need a rethink on how we build and drain our built environment - catch the water and get it into the ground, not straight into the river!!!

I want to support Robyn with her project to protect this tree from being undermined by the adjacent creek which would cause the tree to fall.
