The local community rallied together to save these 14 community reserves in the Shire of Nillumbik, now it is time to give them an identity (a sign with a name), a seat to be able to sit and enjoy the space. And have local community be involved in planting some local indigenous trees to further enhance these spaces.

The community enjoy these spaces in a myriad of ways, children walking through to go to school, people walking their dogs, parents taking children to play, sitting and enjoying the peaceful surrounds and getting some vitamin D and fresh air. These green spaces provide habitat for valuable local flora and fauna.
The community are engaged and protective of these spaces and want to see them preserved for future generations to enjoy.

Lets complete the wonderful action initiated by the community to save these reserves. We need our green public spaces, and this project will further enhance them by planting more vegetation and having seats and signage which will briefly tell the story of how they were saved by community action to prevent sale by council.

With over 10,000 people signing petitions to Save these Reserves and immense direct community support in rally’s, council submissions and verbal submissions the community SAVED 14/17 of these Reserves. Now is the time to engage with locals and reactivate these wonderful community spaces. My number 1 pick!!

With the rampant development in Eltham these reserves must be preserved for the well being of people and native fauna.
