Saunders House was bought back by the St Hilary’s congregation to create a centre for the community of Kew, the city of Boroondara and beyond. Initial plans to better use the site have been limited by the state of the property and funding.

The plan is to renovate the site to create a safe all-weather meeting place for community groups, opening the high-access front corner to a family play-safe area with supporting meeting spaces, retreats, storage and residence for a site manager and assistant(s). Our goal is to serve coffee and snacks, better utilising our existing barista coffee cart.

Saunders house seeks to be a safe haven for the multitude of community groups and individuals looking for care and support, expanding beyond those groups we currently serve in the area:
-Alcoholics Anonymous, Kew - at standing capacity
-Prague House Fellowship (St Vincent’s Health)
-Girl Guides
-Cam Care
-Mainly Music – children’s and families support
-Mother's groups
-Tom's shed

Our vision is to expand our program of community education through a home atmosphere, supporting new families and individuals from St Georges Hospital, Kew traffic school and the surrounding schools with a more self-sufficient base and a loving environment.

Saunders House fosters a sense of belonging and engagement in Kew and is home to many important community programmes. After many years of use it now really needs an update!
