Sages Cottage is a 38-acre property located in Baxter, on the Mornington Peninsula. The property is home to a heritage-listed cottage and a working farm. By forging partnerships with local businesses and community groups, Wallara has taught 25 young people with disabilities both life and farming skills. The Cottage boasts an award-winning functions venue, a thriving on-site café and a growing conservation program. However, we want to make Sages more accessible. As Sages is a heritage-listed site, a lot of our play equipment and on-site amenities are not wheelchair accessible. This needs to change. We need your help.
Sages Cottage is a truly inclusive experience – people of all ages and abilities come together in an inclusive and normalising space.
Sages Cottage has been a huge success for the Mornington Peninsula community. It has allowed for the general public to engage with people with different abilities in unique and inclusive ways.
Making our communal areas and amenities purpose-fit with upgrades like wheelchair accessible play equipment, toilets, drinking fountains, outdoor tables/chairs - will significantly help this effort. Wallara exists to realise the many aspirations of people with different abilities – and we always bring our community along the journey.

In a previous employment I had the pleasure of association with both staff and kids from Wallara and have seen the great work they do. I highly back there endeavor to receive this grant. I am a Baxter local and proudly support them.

My daughter is a client of Wallara. The cafe is an amazing opportunity for her to learn a skill to help her become independent in the future.
