Rural Rainbows - Building a Strong North Central LGBTI Community

North Central Regional LGBTI Network was founded in December 2017 with the goal of building a safe, welcoming, respectful and inclusive LGBTI network. This network consists of LGBTI people, their allies, advocates, service providers, community members and groups working together to promote LGBTI equity and inclusion in our North Central Region. This region includes Birchip, Charlton, Donald, St Arnaud, Watchem, Wycheproof, surrounding towns and beyond! Rural Rainbows is the social side of the network with regular social events held throughout the region to increase community awareness and provide a sense of community connection. Rural Rainbows has its own Facebook Page.

Community Inclusion: Rural Rainbows/NCR LGBTI Network will help break down the barriers faced by LGBTI people and continue the pathway towards equity and inclusion; improve community awareness of the issues faced by LGBTI people in our region; identify the needs and interests of the LGBTI community in relation to representation, social connection, inclusion and advocacy to improve mental health and to improve community awareness of the needs of LGBTI people. A Co-Design model - LGBTI people working with advocates, allies and other partners, with them leading and designing the project. Continuing to move from tolerance to acceptance to EQUITY.
