Bringing young people and the not so young people in our community together with art as the common denominator is a wonderful idea.

Nathalia, an arts town where art is a part of everyday life, celebrates with Isaiah Firebrace. Forty invited rural guests (ages 13-15) and their artist-teachers, working in a three-day popup visual arts camp at The GRAIN Store and local secondary schools.
Inspired through workshops with five internationally renowned artists; e.g. Treanna Hamm, William Kelly, Martin King, to explore and extend their interests, the young artists will make connections with a wider world of serious artists and produce art works for a six week exhibition. It will be announced by art work display banners from the water tower.
Young artists will be actively engaged and excited by their own hero and dreams - mainly available to young sports people. By publicly celebrating the Young Visual Art Camp and holding it in The GRAIN Store the two secondary colleges, the concert and the water tower banners provide the young artists with a supportive audience. The older people of Nathalia will have a privileged insight into young people and their views on their life experiences within a 100 kilometer radius. The young artists and their teachers will take back their artistic enthusiasms to their own communities.

I can see how the water tower painting would attract fresh new faces to the town, people can make a weekend of going around the towns checking out the whole different ranges of art, that would benefit the town as a whole, as well as the other towns that are currently struggling from the drought conditions. People could stop for lunch or even book accommodation boosting tourism. How would the GRAINstore project have a lasting benefit for our community? I still think it is a wonderful idea and a great opportunity for kids, but we need to make sure our investment benefits the whole community.
Teagan thank you for your thoughtful comment...my project idea is a statement of confidence in our young people now...whatever their interests...and as we are art...we are seeking to strengthen those kids who are interested in art...and reassure them there are many people who have had wonderful lives as well as keeping up their art...there are many media stories that enthuse and inspire young sports people...this is trying to balance things out for those young people with other interests and abilities...in this case art
Top ideas from our GRAINStore.

I can see the value of both suggestions as there is a lot of interest in the arts in general but I would be more practical and suggest that for all of the citizens of Nathalia it would be of great value to have at least one footpath in each street so that people can walk around the town in safety. At the moment people who are wheeling prams, driving mobility scooters or just walking as most children do going to school have to walk in the middle of the road in most streets. I see infrastructure as a lasting benefit for decades and so that then is money well spent.

That’s the great thing about this; you can submit an idea.
