Rochester Sports Museum open to the public, entry by donation. The tourist attraction will celebrate Australian Sporting greats, whilst recognising local sports people. The iconic memorabilia collection includes items from Don Bradman, Dawn Fraser, Shane Warne, Sharelle McMahon, Greg Norman and Herb Elliott, just to name a few. The collection has been donated by Mitiamo local John Forbes, previous marketing manager for Puma Australia. The museum will be a great opportunity for the next generation to glimpse some of the nations sporting history and a chance to get up close and personal with uniforms and equipment of sporting hero’s.

A project of the Rochester Lions Club. Currently over 7000 vehicles travel through Rochester each day. The sports museum will create a tourist attraction for the local area and encourage tourists to visit the region. The museum will be located in the iconic Rochester Railway Station - which has been unoccupied for a number of years. The project has very strong community support and has the prospect of providing a much needed boost to Rochester’s economy following the closure of the local Murray Goulburn factory. The project will also support local sports people and encourage them to follow their dreams

Having seen this is collection first hand, believe it needs to be shared with the people of Australia and in fact the world, from Sergey Bubka's Olympic Uniform to Adam Gilchrist gloves. This is the life work of one of Australia best known unfamous people Johnny Forbes, it would be a fitting tribute to Forbesy to have this collection on permanent public display coupled with the undoubted economic benefit to the local community this project is a winner.

A wonderful collection and worthy project for all to see, appreciate and enjoy. The sporting museum would benefit the town by adding to the attraction of people stopping and hopefully adding to the patronage of other businesses and the economy of Rochester and surrounding districts. With the amount of tourist traffic consistently passing through town, any project that encourages people to stop and visit and stay is a positive.

A valuable collection which must be displayed for all to see. Rochester has been through some tough times over recent years so this museum, along with the silos art, will attract visitors, and will help boost the town's confidence and economy.

Thank you to everyone who has voted for the Rochester Sports Museum - The Rochester Lions Club and John Forbes are very excited about the project and the potential should we receive your vote. As many of you know Rochester suffered the loss of the Murray Goulburn factory earlier this year, but the town has rallied and is growing from strength to strength. The recent accomplishment of painting the grain silos has increased the visitor rate to our lovely town. The sports museum will only continue to grow tourism in Rochester. Keep the votes coming and remember Together we can make a difference.

A great sustainable project to support for many reasons: this renown, unique and historic sporting collection needs to be housed and displayed for the pleasure it will bring as well as the economic benefits an attraction like this will have for the town and surrounding region.

I have had the pleasure of working closely with the Rochester community members who have instigated this project. Their dedication is inspirational. This will be an amazing investment in their community. The Forbes sport collection is a wonderful and unique asset that should be crafted into a top attraction for Rochester.

The town has suffered floods and the closing of Murray Goulburn Factory which has meant some people have left the district or travelling to other areas to work . Due to this the, impact on business within the district has affected all the community.. We have got a good community who work together to help each other and this would be another shared project to attract people to the town and inject funds into the businesses which will assist everyone in the Community. A chance for us to show off our town and encourage people from all over the country to visit and appreciate a unique collection of sporting memorabilia of past champions from Australia, internationally and our own locals. Hopefully they will also inject some much needed funds into our Community, and a spin off for other tourist attractions in our region. It is a chance to ensure our history of sport is not lost.
The Lions Club locally work hard to look after our Community so well.
