Riverside Recreation Reserve is accessed by four main user groups and the general public. Our demographic includes riders with a disability, youth, volunteers and adult riders. In addition, RRR is utilised as a community hall and a competition venue. A long standing attraction to RRR is the indoor riding arena, which was built over 20 years ago and used daily. Despite meticulous upkeep, the riding surface in this indoor arena is very dated, and requires renewal to keep up with modern safety and health standards. The other part of this project is an all weather riding surface on the Oval.

It is no surprise that the Riverside Recreation Reserve is busiest in winter, when opportunities to ride at other venues are hampered by weather. Despite this, our user groups are having to cancel their rallies and events due to inclement weather making the outdoor riding surfaces unsafe to use. This project will create year round accessibility to the outdoor riding surfaces.
The revamp of the indoor arena will have far reaching positive effects. The existing surface is dusty, heavily impacting riders (and equines) with allergies and asthma. This is a particular concern due to the at-risk demographic of our riders.

This project has been needed for many years. There are many groups that use these grounds and in the wet season it can be virtually unusable.

This is such an important project for all equestrians in the Wimmera. We already have NO VETS. Willing to service the area 😡. There are NO FARRIERS! We have get farriers up from Kilmore to service the area!
