Our aim is to build an accessible high quality facility for our much needed disability program. The RDA equestrian program is specially designed for people with a variety of disabilities. Developing their riding skills while enjoying the freedom, movement, sensory feedback and exhilaration of riding a horse. Participants work on extending their ability, become limber, improve balance, core strength, posture and coordination. The program is truly amazing giving our participants the freedom to reach their goals. RDA Knox will be a community hub, a place for parents, people with a disability and volunteers to come together and support one another.
RDA Knox will provide high quality facilities to meet the growing need of our specialist program in the area. There is currently an extensive three year waiting list to join the program. Which is a testament to the need of our services in the area. We are also a volunteer based organisation that provides a space for diverse people with different backgrounds to interact and work together. Riders and volunteers enjoy the benefits that exercise and physical activities have, while also enjoying an outdoor natural setting, making friends and improving the lives of people with a disability.

This organisation does fantastic work. It makes such a difference to children with disabilities. They can engage with the real world and learn new skills in the process. It is great fun for them and gives them confidence to try different things. They deserve to have access to the same activities that typically developing children have. It is a great teaching tool for the child and the parents. It is very rewarding for all involved. WELL DONE!!
Working with horses is so rewarding for people with disabilities, it would be great for more people to have the chance to take part.
Such a great initiative!
The joy it brings to the riders is worth every penny. Put me down as a volunteer!
giddy up 🐴
Appreciate the work done by RDA. Would love to see the new Centre come up at Knox.
Great job, all the best
RDA is an amazing organisation that provides so many meaningful opportunities and benefits for all their riders and the wider community. I have recently had the privilege to be involved with this organisation and was amazed by the dedication and passion of volunteers and coaches in providing such incredible programs for riders. A new centre would make such a contribution to the community and have a positive impact on so many people's lives. A much needed and truly worthwhile project!
Good luck abd great job. Jov
Good project
Best of luck RDA Knox
RDA does such fantastic work and this new centre would make such a positive contribution to the Knox community. Best of luck!
Got to get this fantastic project off the ground - Loooooong overdue
Good luck with everything great work!
I see the benefits every week at our riding for disabled program in Bairnsdale. Good luck with building your Centre!
This is a wonderful idea. I have volunteered at Barwon RDA for four years and the need for an appropriate centre is very obvious. Even an established riding school still falls short of the many requirements needed by RDA participants and volunteers.
With the last of the land being developed for housing estates in the area, it will be great to retain some of the culture we grew up with in the area and getting children on horses and outdoors is an integral part of this.
Our little girl has achieved so much since being on the program. It has increased her core strength and given her movement that we thought she'd never have. She's more confident and so looks forward to every session.
It isn't just about getting on a horse, it's serious therapy and all of the doctors see it too.
The volunteers/coaches and organizers are absolutely dedicated to the good of the participants and horses.
I seriously LOVE this organisation.
What an incredible organisation RDA are. Had the opportunity to work on a project with these guys and have just been blown away by the hard working volunteers and coaches, who run such an incredible program that has such a positive impact on people’s lives.
RDA is the most fantastic thing my son has done and he LOVES it, as do all the children we see attend. I cannot commend the workers and volunteers enough for the fantastic work they do and the time that they give.
RDA is a fantastic therapy for children with a disability.
My daughter does Rda and it is the best therapy we have ever done. When we started she couldn’t walk long distances or climb stairs. Now she runs down to the pony and climbs the mounting block confidently. My daughter loves having the opportunity to engage with a community with a common love of horses, where she really feels she belongs. It’s a fantastic holistic approach to therapy that has amazing benefits for riders and their families. This is truely a worthy project.
We were on the waiting list for 6 years. Then my son was finally granted a spot to ride mid-year. My son really gained so much with this program it was truly amazing. However, it was a busy centre with a long waiting list. After 2 and half years he had to relinquish his spot for someone else on the waiting list. We are now back on a waiting list. There really needs to be another centre that offers riding for the disabled. The benefits continue outside the context of horse riding.
