Revitalising the Orbost Community Sports Centre

Built in 1994, the Orbost Community Sports Stadium is in desperate need of some renovation work to ensure that it is around for the next 25 years. This work includes: an internal repainting of the building; replacing seating in the spectators area; replacing four external doors; replacing the basketball backboards and scoreboard; re-marking the sporting lines on the floor in the stadium; fitting more energy-efficient lighting in the stadium; fitting or replacing cooling fans and air conditioners, in line with changing community expectations; replacing ceiling tiles in the gym and foyer; and the purchase of some new gym equipment.

This stadium is a focus for a number of sporting activities in Orbost. It is utilised by the Orbost Basketball Association at least four days/nights each week, along with the Orbost & District Table Tennis Association, the Orbost Netball Association, the Orbost Little Athletics Club, the Orbost Cricket Club, the Orbost Secondary College, as well as Orbost, Orbost North, Newmerella and Marlo Primary Schools. Many locals also utilise the stadium's gym facilities. Giving the Orbost Community Sports Centre this much-needed "face-lift" will ensure this structurally-sound building will continue to be used by these groups for a long time yet.
