Penpraze Park is an essential outdoor space for locals to enjoy, and for the students of Malvern Primary School to access. The parks current surface is pitted and rutted. There are areas where grass cover is devoid and the surface is hollowing out and becoming dangerously uneven. This project will rectify major issues by providing new grass, significant leveling, drainage systems, automated irrigation and maintenance. Locals will have an improved outdoor space for their enjoyment and physical activity. The park is also an essential physical activity resource for the school, which it is becoming increasingly reliant upon as enrolments increase.
Penpraze Park provides valuable open space for the City of Stonnington, which has an average of only 20sqm of public open space per person, the second lowest of any Victorian municipality. As the population increases, the new and enhanced park facilities will improve sport and recreation opportunities for the local community, and for Malvern Primary School. Upgrades will provide for essential community connectedness and encourage increased physical activity. It will also ensure the park can continue to support Malvern Primary school to deliver a comprehensive sport and physical education curriculum, passive recreation facilities and nature play opportunities for its students.

My 10yo son had severe concussion from falling in this park and hitting his head on the ground here. He spent the night in hospital and couldn't remember anyone's name and it was very scary. I believe a better surface would have softened the blow! please fix this, lots of people will benefit from it.

It's dangerous in it's current state. This work should be a priority.
Note: Suggest the works are timed to be conducted just prior to the end of term so the park is sectioned off for a limited time (while the work is underway) and the new turf can be watered and establish while there is naturally lower traffic for a few weeks over the school holidays.

Penpraze Park is in need of some serious TLC. It is widely used by the local community and has so much potential. A much need upgraded would see this once beautiful, useful outdoor space enjoyed by not only MPS students, but local residents too. We need to do all we can to encourage our children, families and the local elderly to get out more and get active.

In a terrible mess from all the Winter weather and then a dust bowl in Summer. Also a dangerous surface for run up to cricket nets which really needs some attention.

This area is a high traffic area during school and well used by the community on the weekend. I’m surprised more children haven’t sustained injuries during active sport in the area given how uneven the surface is, the potholes, and how dry and patchy it is. What a welcome addition to the community if maintenance was undertaken in this area.

When it rains the oval floods and in summer it’s a dust bowl. It’s not just for the school but also the local community who use it in the afternoon & on weekends!

With screens and indoor activity taking up too much of many children’s time, this expensive and under utilised space would be a terrific enhancement to the area for the school children mid week and local community after hours and weekends. What a shame it’s been left to go to ruins.

The park is heavily used during the week and weekends by a variety of people and children. It is in desperate need of an upgrade & maintenance and that's understating it - very overdue project. It's SO important to make the park SAFE for the local community.

This area has been in need of some improvements for some time now and will not only benefit the students of MPS but also the wider community who use this area after school and on weekends. It would be wonderful to watch this area be transformed into a practical and useful area!

Resurfacing of this area is long overdue and necessary. It’s concerning that the grounds are in this state which affects the pleasant enjoyment of the park and poses an injury risk should children fall on the poorly surfaced area. It would be safely utilised and enjoyed by all the children at Malvern Primary School as well as residents of the local community. Let’s get behind a great project that will bring joy to all.

My grandchildren attend Malvern Primary they and their friends spend many hours here, it would be be very sad should one of these children be injured because of the neglect of the park

Very long and very overdue project.The Park is heavy used on the weekends and is in desperate need of maintenance.It a huge shame that our local council neglects this area.And itis a health and safety issue as well.If my child was to injure themselves on that unsafe surface,l would be taking this issue to the council and definitely looking for answers..

This park has been in this state for as long as I can remember. It is very long overdue for the TLC it has long needed. This is a fabulous park, play & BBQ area for so many school families & residents. To have an area of grass for people to play on would be wonderful & a great gift to our community.
