The badly deteriorated court and surrounding asphalt areas are in desperate need of resurfacing and upgrading and, once improved, will be a welcoming and multi-use space to be used by the school, sporting clubs, families and the growing Big Hill/Ravenswood community to enjoy. The local area lacks any health and recreational facilities. The school grounds are also used for a number of community events including school fairs and is a voting station for elections. The upgrades will provide a much-needed, interesting and fun recreational area for the area.
Big Hill is a small but rapidly growing community currently lacking any outdoor or indoor sporting/recreation facilities. The closest sporting facility is 3kms away and the next major playground is 6kms away making the upgrade an important project for Big Hill. The existing court and asphalt are not level, water pools and is a safety concern. The resurfacing and upgrade work would provide the school, families and sporting clubs with an accessible and communal area whilst providing an opportunity for the community to develop its own sporting identity by encouraging the use of the upgraded facilities.
