The Chiltern Primary School COLA is an large sealed outdoor area which is covered to allow use for students in all weather. The space is shared with the local netball club and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) when they require a sheltered area for training in wet weather. It provides an outdoor play space for the Outside School Hours Care programme run from the Primary School. The COLA is in need of resurfacing to prevent it becoming unsafe. The retaining wall on the garden area surrounding the COLA also requires replacing, to prevent damage to the new surface.
This amazing resource provides benefits to the children who attend the primary school and also to some of our important local organisations. Learning and healthy playtime activity for the students is not limited by weather conditions. The Chiltern Swans netball team and the Chiltern CFA can continue training even in adverse weather. Outside School Hours Care has recently commenced in Chiltern. I believe this additional resource for families in the area will help encourage greater numbers of students in our schools and therefore a closer connection between residents and the community. The use of the COLA enhances the OSHC programmes.

It is very dangerous if left as it is both to children and adults alike. There is always a lot of people on this surface.
