LAN 2354 is a stainless steel, air conditioned sleeping carriage built in 1962 for the Victorian and New South Wales Government Railways. It spend most of its working life on the Southern Aurora overnight train that operated between Melbourne and Sydney. Current legislation means the toilet system on this carriage can not be used, and we would like to install a retention system and new shower facilities. The people of Victoria have a love of railway history and this carriage is used frequently on overnight tourist trains so the people of today can enjoy the railways of a bygone era.

707 Operations runs many day and overnight sleeping carriage excursions from Melbourne to many rural locations though out Victoria. People from all parts of Victoria can see the carriage on it's many public journeys and they also have the opportunity to travel in this vehicle. Once fully restored, the carriage will demonstrate to the people of today, what railway travel of yesteryear was like and allow them to experience overnight sleeping carriage accommodations on a moving train. This project benefits people in all of Victoria as the carriage has the ability to travel far and wide.
