Cohuna Is a small rural town in Gannawarra Shire with a large number of aged residents. Due to a lack of public transport, walking is the only option for shopping for many and also provides the opportunity for exercise and social contact. The provision of seats at identified sites around the town and along walking tracks will give the opportunity to rest, make this activity less of a challenge to those with mobility problems and contribute to the social fabric of the community by allowing people to interact with others.

The project has multiple benefits:
Physical - walking will improve health and mobility as well as personal fitness.
Social - residents isolated in their homes will be able to interact with others when walking and using the rest points .
Mental - it is well known that a healthy body means a healthy mind; through exercise and social contact this will occur and promote general well being within the community.

A very welcome addition to our town which prides it's self as being a caring community. Walking is encouraged in our ageing community. Having the opportunity to walk with friends on a sunny day and rest along the way would be delightful.
