The Masterplan for D S Aitken reserve calls for the redevelopment of the precinct to make it more user friendly, beautify the surrounds and have more community usage of the entire precinct. The reestablishment of the playground in its proposed area by Hume City Council will give greater access to local residents, ground users and members' families. This will also enable Council to fast-track the Masterplan for the precinct, bringing further benefits to all users.

By moving and upgrading the current playground area earlier than planned, and in the 2018/19 financial year, we will see greater use of the playground by families. This will show park users that the Masterplan has commenced, there is improved access for children and the creation of an area that benefits the local residents. Currently the location of the park is near a major roundabout and has safety considerations; by moving the playground it also benefits park users and their families. Increased usage is the key outcome for park users.
