To replace existing time expired timber sleepers with recycled plastic sleepers. This will lead to an almost maintenance-free track being achieved in the future. Plastic sleepers have an unknown lifespan.

The miniature railway attracts tourists and visitors alike which greatly benefits and stimulates the local community through the additional income to the local businesses etc. With our effective marketing strategies in place, visitation numbers are expected in increase with an economic flow on effect to the local businesses and the like will occur.

The Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway is very deserving of further support by the community at large. A great place for the kids to enjoy as well as enjoying the beach and open spaces as well. A great use for recycled plastic and reducing the reliance on timber, which is becoming a limited resource. Will ensure it's future for the years to come.....

A friendly and happy place for young and old alike, all run by volunteers, who do their utmost to ensure all visitors have a great time, tables and seating, BBQ facilities, playground equipment, toilets on site, beach across the car park, special run days though the year, Heritage train station, signal box and train storage. Under cover area for children's birthday parties, end of year break ups, etc, plenty of room to run and play , while Mum and Dad have a coffee from our station , also ice-creams and drinks available as well. We are the only miniature train in the Geelong Region, we are unique.!

This great band of volunteers keep the train running to time and on track. Children love a ride on the train and their Dads usually have the biggest grins on their faces!
