We will hold a week long photo exhibition (10/9/2018-16/09/2018) in partnership with Victoria Trades Hall and Latin American Solidarity Network to commemorate the 1973 Chilean coup d'état and the following Pinochet Dictatorship. Many members of the Chilean community here in Melbourne migrated as a result of this period in Chile's history and 1973 marked a watershed moment for for all Chileans as the story of Chile was forever changed. The exhibition and event will commemorate all those who lost their lives and honor all those who formed part of the social movements for truth and justice.

We believe it is important to have spaces to commemorate this traumatic period in in Chilean history which is still in living memory for Chilean people. We also think it presents an important opportunity to educate the wider Australian society and draw together all those who denounced the Pinochet regime including Australian unionists and social advocates. We want to make a space for community members to remember and honor their loved ones who were killed or disappeared during this period. We also want to remember the strong movements of resistance that struggled against the dictatorship and for a different Chile.
