There are many food stars we love to watch, read about and admire. How great would it be for our region to raise the media profiles of a select number of local winemakers, drawing attention to the spectacular Grampians, Pyrenees and Henty wine regions and helping build awareness of regional wines brands and cellar door experiences? This project would help build winemakers profiles and generate media interest in the region with targeted feel-good stories, expert advice, tips and top 10s, event appearances and media culinary experiences in the region, including the launch of Grampians Grape Escape.

Wine and tourism play an important role in the Grampians, Pyrenees and Henty regions, but there are plenty more opportunities for our winemakers and their wines to become household names.

Our region has the talent to produce a few "winestars," who then become ambassadors, inviting readers and journalists to discover our spectacular nature and wildlife, indigenous culture, hikes and sights, events, villages, food and of course, wine.

The Grampians Grape Escape launch would invite key journalists to come and experience a taste of the Grampians, meet the producers and explore nature to help promote the festival that supports the region.

This event is growing every year which shows the importance of keeping it going and continuing to promote our local wineries and local produce.

One of the best events going around Victoria, since 1992 it promotes winemakers and their produce.
Low key and fun, it boosts local awareness of this great product in our backyard. A joy for all the family and for those who like food there is an offering. Involvement of the patrons in Grape Stomping, Wine Auction are significant offerings to allow people to participate.

The Grape Escape is an event that is growing by the year. More and more people are visiting the area and return to the event each year with many new comers. The event has potential to go even bigger, however it would be great to see something put in place to support the wineries in regards to the cost to attend the event, and to subsidise the tasting cost a little. Funding for this event would allow Grampians Tourism bring more to the area and to spend more on bigger attractions etc. Money well spent.
