Rainbow is a vibrant rural township in the Hindmarsh Shire. Its cross section of community members would benefit from a centrally located and safe outdoor area where a larger number of people can gather and access cooking facilities. The central business/retail area of Rainbow currently lacks this size amenity. My idea is to create an outdoor/camp kitchen with various cooking options, within the emerging Oasis arts/recreational precinct, half a block from Rainbow’s main street. The project would redevelop the dilapidated shelter shed site adjacent to the skate park, arts building, community gym, outdoor stage and desert garden beyond.

The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Community Plan supports the development of the Oasis as an all ages, friendly, accessible community hub. It opens opportunities for our community to host arts and cultural activities alongside its strong sporting amenities. An outdoor kitchen enhances the Oasis as a space where people can gather and connect, making Rainbow a better place to live. Anticipated uses include community cooking/music/art events, reunions, and family parties. It will be promoted for use by visitors/groups to the Rainbow shire including, caravan/car/motorbike clubs, environmental groups, Oasis cultural events, Enduro event, Silo Art Trail, Yurunga Homestead, Pella precinct, National Parks.
