People who are seeking asylum and a part of the LGBTIQ+ community have very few safe spaces to meet. This group will provide a safe space to meet and discuss the unique issues that LGBTIQ asylum seekers face, and provide access to information referral. It will also provide a social element with activities and outings planned.

The City of Moreland is welcoming and supportive of a diverse group of people. They have shown their support for both people seeking asylum and the LGBTIQ+ communities. Currently there isn't a group in Moreland that caters to people who are seeking asylum and are a part of the LGBTIQ+ community. The addition of 'Rainbow Connection' to Moreland would mean that people who are seeking asylum and are a part of the LGBTIQ+ community will have a safe inclusive space to meet, share information and support each other through their respective journeys.
