Rowe St Park is a residential park situated in what was once called the “Commission House” area. It is home to a very diverse demographic, with surrounding residents from a variety of cultures: Aboriginal, Asian and Pacific Islander, just to name a few. The exercise equipment would encourage surrounding residents to exercise and improve their fitness, health and wellbeing while they are at the park. It is envisaged that the exercise equipment would attract additional users to the park, bringing the community together to create a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

Demographics surrounding the park has a large number of overweight and unfit people (many with diabetes). Most are manual labourers.
The equipment is intended to encourage people to exercise and take positive steps to improve their fitness, health, wellbeing and social interaction while using the park. Use by labourers would strengthen backs, helping to reduce workplace injuries, reducing visits to medical facilities. I hope it would also encourage younger people to become more active.
The intended equipment would enable entry level exercise as well as more advanced activities, so as to support a variety of people of different fitness levels.

A very worthy and much needed facility which will benefit many who live in the surrounds of this small park.

This area of Kennedy, Morris and Rowe Street is a high density housing precinct and all of the larger recreation reserves are situated on the opposite side of the town. The only other area that resembles a park/playground opportunity is the P12 school grounds which is less than open for public use. Council is reluctant to cater for park areas on this side of town in their housing developments to date , so it is crucial this park area is used to its maximum offering an extensive and attractive infrastructure to encourage community members, of all age groups, to have access to exercise equipment and enjoy a higher level of wellbeing and fitness. Well done.

I grew up on Rowe Street. Back then, the park was basically a prickle patch with a couple of climbing frames. It's great to see a real effort is being made with the space and the locals really deserve to have somewhere special to come together to play and get some exercise.

This is such a worthy project and needed in our very disadvantaged multicultural town
