Point Cook Scouts and Carranballac College are building a joint-use facility on Jamieson Way campus. A solar photovoltaic system on the facility will enable energy costs to be lowered over the long-term to the advantage of the partners and community. The facility will be used to integrate school and scout curriculum and extra curriculum activity, as well as integrating outside school hour’s care and scouting, so that the community might benefit in a range of ways. The facility will be jointly managed and costs shared equitably between the partners.

Energy costs are a major factor in budget considerations, and both scouts and school will need to meet these ongoing costs from local funds. The joint-use facility will be used from early morning till night and at weekends for most weeks of the year. By installing a solar photovoltaic panel system on the roof on the facility, energy costs will be lowered. The joint-use facility has become a reality through a strong partnership between Point Cook Scouts and Carranballac College, and will meet the growing demands of rising scout enrolments in Point Cook, and will strongly link our organisations.

Pt Cook Scout School Solar is so deserving of my vote. Supporting local community, the environment, local children and a volunteer group, certainly worthy 🙂

So hugely important, for long term financial viability and environmental sustainability to both the school and Scout group
