The current shade provision around the Club's A Green is outdated and provides limited shade coverage for bowlers. The club is seeking to construct new shade structures to provide a higher level of protection for the entire west and north side of the green.
The grant would fund the design, site preparation, engineering specifications, supply and construction of supporting steel work and the installation of new shade sails to cover approximately 75 metres of green side area.
The provision of adequate shade is of particular importance during the warmer months, when the club has a high engagement and participation rate.

The Swan Hill Racecourse Bowls Club has a commitment to improving facilities for its members, school groups, community organisations and the general public who access the facility. Local schools including primary and specialist schools are currently participating in "Coaching and Play " sessions to engage children in sporting activities. Through other beginner programs the club actively encourages new participants to lawn bowling. Providing a good cover of shade for the facility users is a high priority for the club and this has been endorsed by previous commitments to improve shade facilities for the bowling green surrounds as finances were available.

This is an important project as bowlers spend a considerable amount of time in the sun so the need for shade is imperative.
