Beautiful area, added seating will allow people time to sit and enjoy a wonderful array of plants. Great vision.

130 metres of public seating was unable to be funded as part of the initial ‘Garden for the Future’ project which opened 22nd April 2018. These functional and artistic seats will be made from seasoned ironbark hardwood which has been salvaged from the trees which were removed during the Ravenswood Interchange Project. The timber is currently in storage. A quote for the seat of $130,000 will be supplemented by $10,000 from the Friends of the Bendigo Botanic Gardens and a further $20,000 which would be provided by the BNDCE (Bendigo Northern District Community Enterprise).
The seating will provide passive recreational opportunities for visitors. We've found that a lack of public seating is detrimental to many people enjoying the Botanic Gardens and this is one of the most frequently requested features. The seating will also provide additional audience capacity for events held at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens as it is oriented towards the stage / shelter area. Certain demographics of the community such as elderly visitors and disabled visitors have made special requests for extra seating in the Garden for the Future.

The lovely new area needs seating to finish it off and encourage more visitors.
