‘Pride of Park’ is a collaboration between Moonee Valley Council and local environment groups, bringing people together to learn more about their parklands.
Four community events will showcase the diversity of flora, fauna and historical significance in parks across the municipality, with initial topics exploring:
- Native grasslands
- Indigenous landscape and plant use
- Historic buildings and gardens
- Wetland and ecosystem health
The events will be open to residents of all ages and backgrounds. Families with young children will especially be encouraged to participate in order to develop lasting attachment and interest in the unban environment.
Moonee Valley boasts a rich diversity of parklands in its municipality. The varying landscapes provide platforms to engage residents on important environmental themes and issues.
Pride of Park is an initiative that fosters connections between new and existing residents to strengthen their community attachment to one-another and their parkland. Pride of Park is designed to offer residents of all ages and backgrounds a means to learn about their local region, history and contribute to sustaining our healthy urban ecosystem.
