Pride in our Community. A multimedia celebration of our diversity.

The St Kilda LGBTIQ community will have a say in expressing their pride in diversity and inclusion through a collaborative approach to a public artwork that will align with the values of the Victorian Pride Centre and be incorporated into the Fitzroy Street site of the centre.
The multimedia artwork will be an expression of LGBTIQ St Kilda life in all its diversity, focussing on themes of inclusion and equality. The artwork will honour the rich history of the community and provide a reference point for future LGBTIQ communities in recognition of the achievements of community leaders and influencers.

LGBTQI people make up a significant proportion of the St Kilda population yet we are subject to ongoing levels of discrimination and violence from individuals and institutions. As a result of this pervasive discrimination and denigration, LGBTQI communities have higher rates of depression, anxiety and suicide well beyond the national average.
This artwork will become a reference point where people can meet, feel safe, included and validated. It will strengthen their sense of belonging and improve their mental health.
This public artwork will be a source of strength for individuals, families and mainstream allies alike.
