Inclusion Melbourne is dedicated to supporting people with intellectual disability and the broader community to confidently navigate the NDIS. We will run four workshops comprising 12 hours of expert NDIS knowledge for people with intellectual disabilities, families, carers and the community. Past attendees have been much more confident to self-advocate during their NDIS planning meeting. Attendees will also receive a individual session with an experienced NDIS facilitator to discuss their personal goals and supports. The workshops have been designed to inform family, carers and supporters about the NDIS, guidance to set goals, useful planning tools and helpful tips.

The changes that are required to existing disability support systems are significant and complex for many. The NDIS will impact people with disabilities, their family carers, disability support professionals and disability support organisations, providing many Australians with the necessary and reasonable support they need to live an ordinary life. The community will benefit from this service as people from Brimbank will be better prepared to advocate for the support they need and require within NDIS planning meetings, articulating their goals clearly. This will lead to more support and greater independence for people with a disability in our community.

Providing NDIS participants with greater confidence in self advocacy is vital. It is important we do not forget that the most important people in the NDIS programme are those that need the services, it is imperative they understand first and foremost how funding works and the implications of the decisions made. Inclusion Melbourne are in a strong position to support this understanding and advocacy given their history and track record supporting people with disability.
