This project aims to increase mental health and wellbeing through public art. It will do this by getting young Port Melbourne based artists to engage residents living in the Nott Street public housing estate in community arts activities. Phase 1 will involve two murals to be completed in the area; through which we will get the wider community involved in doing more public art. Then we will run art workshops where residents will plan together to make the area more attractive, feel safer and increase a sense of belonging.
• Improve leadership skills of young people 15-25 years through a youth-led art project
• Improve mental health of local residents through art, capacity building and socially inclusive activities
• Improve community safety and sense of wellbeing through a participatory arts project which involves the whole community
• Increase community satisfaction through anti-tagging initiatives and education programs
• Promote positive community attitudes toward youth through activities which bring the community together to learn skills and develop ideas.
• Celebrate local culture, history and community through art and storytelling

This project has so many ways that a member of the community can take a lead in their own health and well-being. I hope it is strongly supported
Great looking project, with lots of potential benefits for the local community!

This project is targeting young local people and helping them to express themselves through art and also helping them to form a cohesive mutually supporting group. This is all good. It should get all the support from the community that it deserves.
