In conjunction with Rye Community House, we will run a year long series of pop up workshops that will teach people everything from How to Hem your trousers, Change that fuse! Zen and the Art of Bike Maintenance, Repair a Chair, Is it Broken or just Dusty? The workshops will run at Rye Community House, be open to all people and be run at various times so many people can attend them.

Since the Southern Peninsula Repair Cafe started in March we have seen an increase in people attending and wanting to get their stuff fixed. The idea of these workshops is to teach people the skills to ensure they can fix, not ditch, their stuff. These workshops will enable people to learn new skills, bring the community together, maybe create new repairers for the Repair Cafe and most importantly stop repairable items ending up in landfill.

Great project! There is immense satisfaction in mending something well and giving it new life and this allows people to experience that satisfaction and gain new skills.

Fantastic Concept and taking off in Rye, there is a certain healing of consciousness in the mending process. You have my vote

Mend It, Australia's Kaz+Dan live in Melton but we tinker travel to volunteer at the repair cafe at the Rye Community House. We support the Right to Repair movement and our fundamental right to repair our stuff. However to repair, mend and fix things, people have to have the confidence and the skills. We are picking this project because it will teach these skills as well as create synergies of support to the repair cafe events at the community house. Good luck!

The snowball effect of teaching people to fix things not only reduces waste and replacement costs but also leads to people gaining more confidence in their own abilities to fix more stuff.

Great project for reintroducing practical skills in to what has become a "throw away" society
