The new playground will give an engaging, challenging and appealing place where every child in Sassafras and the surrounding hill community can play .
It is well known that playtime is the key to physical, mental, intellectual and social well-being of children. It impacts hugely on almost every aspect of their development. Kids benefit from regular use of playgrounds in more ways than one. The use of playgrounds gets them active and stimulates children’s sensory, cognitive and physical development; most importantly, promotes social inclusion.
We heard, more than once, families living on this side of the Hills complain regarding the fact that the number of existing playgrounds is not enough in this area, and didn’t cater for everyone. The playground at Sherbrooke will be an additional one.
The new playground will not be built using copper, chromium and arsenate treated wood, but alternative materials, according to the recommendations made by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. It will have sails installed to provide shade, and will be easily accessible, with plenty of space where to park.

Absolutely a worthwhile project! The current playground is extremely old, outdated and a tad dangerous. The school kids need a safe and fun place to play and explore. Lets get it done!

A new playground for this small school and community is much needed for all children to use but especially the children who attend the school after tree damage to the existing one. There is currently no shade due to the tree removal which restricts play for the kids. This school receives little funding and a new play facility would benefit kids learning and morale. I wholly support facility upgrades at this terrific little school.

WE ARE DESPERATE FOR ANOTHER PLAYGROUND THE CHILDREN LOVED OUR OLD PLAYGROUND.SO AT THIS TIME WE DO NOT HAVE ONE.WE ARE A VERY SMALL SCHOOL AND DO NOT GET A LOT OF FUNDING, SO WE NEED HELP THANK YOU,LORRAINE
