We want to create a community space in Cororooke on land donated by Fonterra to use for recreation by children, families and visitors to the district. This will be a place where all can come together for leisure, physical activity, imaginative and creative play. To show what makes our area so special, interpretive signage and symbolic elements will be used to show the history of the district from aboriginal times through settlement to the present day.

There is currently no open space for public or community use in Cororooke, the township with the highest population in the Red Rock district. The Cororooke Tennis Club has recently built courts on part of the land but the rest remains undeveloped. With community involvement, an infrastructure plan was developed in conjunction with the Council to develop the area (1.1ha). This provides for landscaping, play and exercise equipment for all ages, paths, shelter, lighting, drinking water, barbecues and fencing. It will provide a place for the community to gather, a restful spot to picnic, and for children to play safely.

This is magnificent project, that will benefit the whole community and fhe many tourists that pass by. The masterplan has been done over 5 years ago, the Tennis courts completed, now is the time to get this done. Congratulations on the RRPA for all their efforts getting this on this project list.
