I think this is a wonderful project. Many of the projects listed in this forum are very local. This is a project that will have a widespread effect over the whole of Victoria, and an effect that is very much long term. Well done to the originators. :-)

Initiated by twin 13 yr olds who live by a creek, Plastic Ocean = Rubbish Diet; litter reduction TV Commercial is a simple way to educate the community about how plastic waste makes its way to our waterways and ends up in our food. Current studies show that most humans in the western world over the age of 8 have PCBs (tiny plastic particles) in their bodies. The ad clearly shows that what we let go into our waterways as litter- through our streets and drains - ends up in our food chain and onto our dinner table.
Do our community know litter ends up in our bodies?
This campaign is needed to stop wide scale littering - understanding that litter particles end up in our blood directly from the waste we allow to enter our waterways and therefore food sources.
Greater awareness of the damage plastic does to our environment focuses on fish and waterways. Potential future carcinogenic affects are not yet understood nor considered; this campaign changes that focus and reminds us we are part of the environment, not separate from it.
Commercial to be shown in prime TV periods & CSA (Community Service Announcements.)
