Lillydale and Yarra Valley Netball Association would like to construct permanent court covers over some of the netball courts at Pinks Reserve to provide all-weather netball for our 2500 members, interschool sports and the local community.
Our proposal is to construct permanent solid court covers over two or three existing netball courts at Pinks Reserve Kilsyth. These covers will be designed and constructed by reputable shed and shade manufacturers.
Outdoor court covers area used in many schools and are often referred to as Covered Outdoor Learning Areas or COLA’s.

Construction of court covers will be a major investment into netball and women’s sport in the Yarra Ranges Shire.
Currently wet weather and heat cause numerous cancellations of games and training and limits the growth of netball in the community.
The netball courts covers will benefit our 2500 members, interschool sports and the local community.
The proposed project will;
- Increase the participation of female sport
- Increase the participation in netball
- Increase weekly fixturing and available game times
- Provide all weather netball for games and training and prevent cancellations due to heat and wet.

Our Government has a Sun Smart Policy, yet our daughters play Netball in unsheltered conditions, in a relatively new facility.Let's get consistent & support the Sun Smart Policy by providing the Number 1 recommendation: Seek shelter / shade from the sun.
Please fund a roof for ALL Courts at Pinks Reserve to protect our daughters from potentially harmful damage from the sun.

A roof would be such a great addition to this facility!! Here's hoping that eventually all the courts will be covered :-)

The Lilydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association, and the Volunteers who run it, have worked tirelessly (and largely self-funded) for so many years to give our children the opportunity to be active, to be part of a community, to set and achieve goals and to follow their dreams. As one of the many families that use this facility and participate in the LYVNA, we wholeheartedly support this exciting initiative!

So many avenues for more sport to be played in this fantastic place with covers to protect players, spectators, umpire's and see it as a venue to attract more leading edge sporting teams and demonsrations for all members.

This needs to happen to build and improve LYVNA

To have these covers over the courts would be just so amazing. Presently the girls have to play in some of the most horrendous conditions due to our ever changing Melbourne weather. At times it's just extremely dangerous for them when it's raining so hard and as a parent you just hold your breath when they lose their footing. Or when we suddenly have lightning and thunder. I fear it's only a matter of time before we have a fatality. Whilst it would be fantastic to have covers over all courts, getting 3 courts covered to start with would be a wish come true.

This will make an enormous difference to the hundreds of families that use this facility every week!

This is such a brilliant idea. Not only will this protect players and their families, it will also protect the surface of the courts 👌👍

A cover over the courts, albeit at this stage only three, would give much more flexibility and comfort for the teams.

That would be fantastic

It would be fantastic to have all the courts covered. But slowly does it I guess, and to be able to train and play in any weather would be magical if the courts were all covered too. This way players, umpires and supporters and organisers would not have to worry about what unpredictable weather we get on any given day.

It would be amazing to have all courts covered like HE Parker plans, but a good start

So many times training is cancelled due to the wet weather. It will certainly help and is so overdue. Considering basketball has an indoor centre and is not affected by the weather but netball is. The summer is the killer for all the little ones, who can end up having been sunburnt or heat exhaustion as we are always in the sun. Slip Slop Slap.

As part of the netball community to be able to utilise these courts for training, games and school netball in all weather conditions would be hugely beneficial to so many.
This is so important to our ever growing and committed community.

This would be fabulous. So often the girls are unable to play as it is pouring with rain. This is much needed. The basketball players can play all year in their fully covered in playing facilities but the netballers miss out.
