Pines Youth Engagement Hub

The project will renovate an old underutilised hall creating a modern Youth Hub. Works to the building will include a fit out of the 'Youth Café’, a music studio and a garden for herbs and vegetables. The project will also make chairs and tables for the café and outdoor areas. The works (other than where licensed trade skills are required) will be undertaken by local youth and volunteers working with experienced builders from Envision, in conjunction with local youth workers. The youth, who will be utilising the hall when it is completed, will have significant input into its design.

The Pines is an area of significant disadvantage where there is a desperate need for additional services for youth. The Youth Hub will greatly assist young people in the area and wider community. It will provide a welcoming and purposeful venue for local youth where they will be able to meet with friends in a safe environment, learn new skills (particularly in the creative arts and employment) and be guided by quality youth workers. Also, by being involved in renovations young people will pick up invaluable building and gardening skills that will assist their search for employment in the future.
