People with disabilites swim and deserve a dunny.

Golden Square Pool is a community run outdoor seasonal pool. Since re opening 6 years ago its patronage has grown enormously. A number of community organisations utilise the pool to benefit their clientele. Our ethos is that a community pool is for all members of the community and providing equal access for all. An essential part of this is to provide a disabled toilet. Ethically we cannot progress to our next season without providing a disabled toilet for our patrons - its as simple as that.

This toilet will provide an equal amenity for members of our community with disabilities to enable them to pursue outdoor summer swimming that is available to every other person in the community. We are aware from community feedback that many of our patrons with disabilities have, for a variety of reasons, found it difficult to use our existing change rooms. This will provide their own space and privacy that will allow them to take the time they need to prepare for swimming and to change and tend to their needs after a swim, which is their basic human right.
