Sacred Heart Primary School has a proud history of educating Fitzroy's culturally diverse community over many decades. As a proud parent at the school, I have been planning with the principal about using local art network, 'Juddy Roller' to complete 3 pieces of art to truly celebrate our school's commitment to migrant and refugee communities in Fitzroy. The front of the school is currently very plain and we want our children to be involved in collaborating, designing and painting alongside a professional artist in residence. The work will be showcased on two street-facing walls and pillars on our front building.
The works will brighten up the school to show celebratory culturally diverse art on the Junior School wall on King William Street, the Pillars of the IT lab and the side wall on Young Street. As the school is at the heart of the local community, local residents will be able to stop and admire the artwork as they pass by and discuss with their children its significance. Sacred Heart children will be exposed to working with a professional artist and will always be proud of sharing their creation with their loved ones. Such a project builds wonderful community pride!
