We propose a play space where the community can engage with the natural world and the rich indigenous history of the Mornington Peninsula. With plantings designed to relate Boonwurrung knowledge of the seasons, and Learning Stones and story poles to foster inter-cultural understanding, this new garden will be a valued addition to a growing area. Students have been engaged in a collaborative planning process and the design will be sensitive to Boonwurrung culture. The space is located close to several schools and community facilities, and there is full public access to the space after school hours.

Frankston South has a rapidly expanding population, but it lacks spaces that encourage engagement with the natural and cultural heritage of the area. Outdoor spaces with diverse plants and interpretative features help stimulate learning in the way that books and screens cannot. Overport has a diverse and welcoming community and works closely with adjoining Frankston High School and Frankston South Community and Recreation Centre to create an enriching learning environment. Learning Stones support the school's mission by providing a focal point for building student capacity and community partnerships.

This is an area that needs support with diversity and indigenous culture it would be an ongoing project that was successfully educate the community and the children into Australia's history it would have an ongoing long term impact to the history and culture of Australia. What a well placed project.

What a great initiative, children of Victoria aren’t immersed in aboriginal culture like other parts of Australia, particularly in the top end, they are missing out!
