Fox predation is a significant threat to both native and domestic animals in and around Winton Wetlands. This project will allow the purchase and use of cutting edge fox control technology- namely Canid Pest Ejectors- that can be utilized by staff on site to efficiently and continuously control fox abundance. The project budget also includes the purchase of covert infrared cameras with which to monitor fox (and other animal) activity on the reserve. This will allow us to visually demonstrate the effectiveness of the CPEs to the broader community. Cameras will also monitor native animal activity, particularly fox prey species.
Adjoining landholders will benefit from a consistent reduction in fox abundance as foxes are known to predate on stock, particularly young lambs.
A reduction in fox abundance is likely to benefit populations of threatened species on the Wetlands including freshwater turtles, wetland birds and mammals such as Tuans and Gliders. Ultimately this gives the local (and visiting) community a place to observe these rarer species. It will also assist in the success of works currently being undertaken by other community projects on the Wetlands including the Regent Honeyeater Project and Friends of Winton Wetlands turtle conservation project.

protect our native birds and animals...get rid of murderous foxes!
Foxes threaten the good work being done at the Winton Wetlands in the conservation of threatened species. They need to be removed!
Foxes are a constant problem. Lets help preserve our nature.
Come on give the money to the little local community groups, you were given millions, you have wasted thousands of dollars on stupid projects , an over paid ceo who walks around town all day!
Give the little guys ago!
Getting rid of foxes (and feral cats) should be a national priority. Anything that helps this along has my support.
