The project is to install 10 outdoor fitness equipment units at four stations along the foreshore area of Point Lonsdale and one pod of 14 units in Queenscliff in Princess Park. Outdoor gyms are open 24/7, are free to use, inclusive, accessible and a social platform. The Point Lonsdale equipment trail will have exercise equipment especially suitable for Seniors (50.5% of the Queenscliffe Borough population are over 60) but the equipment is also relevant to all teens and adults. Queenscliff will include additional equipment that will be more challenging for the more active, including sports groups.

Health and obesity issues face our communities. Increasing physical activity should be a priority area for governments, healthcare providers and community organisations, especially in our Borough given the demographics.

The outdoor gym equipment stations will focus on cardio, strength, mobility and coordination/balance and will be beneficial for seniors, teens and adults, all genders and all fitness levels, including many disabled. Outdoor exercise is also positive for mental health.

Of 700+ such installations around Australia, none are close to the Borough. We have Letters of Support for the project from the Queenscliffe Mayor and local State member Minister Lisa Neville.

Really GREAT idea as long as there is a sign erected stating "No Lycra for over 50's". I don't want to share equipment after some old codgers saggy balls have been all over it. More emphasis on a younger/ trendier 3225 please, we need to start plucking the grey hairs that are rapidly suffocating the life out of the place! Equality for YOUNG couples and families please!!

Queenscliff / Pt Lonsdale has one of the oldest community’s and the equipment would be a great asset to keep the elderly healthy.

A much required facility in our community to meet the health and fitness aspirations of people of all ages. An opportunity to take self care seriously without adding to the cost of living. This completed project would be a fabulous addition to our community.
