In using the Gibbs Reserve 5 days per week, the Upfield Soccer Club members have frequently identified the need for improved facilities. Improving Club’s infrastructure and facilities will accommodate the rapidly increasing membership of Iraqi & Syrian refugee youth.

This project has identified 2 priority areas:
1) Paving and construction of pergola in the area between the pavilion and the new fence where spectators watch games – currently, families/spectators have no shelter when watching games
2) Purchase canteen food canopy

The Upfield Soccer Club has 380+ members who use the soccer grounds at Gibbs Reserve in Dallas, 5 days per week. The majority of Club members are from refugee backgrounds and this is one of the few sports clubs that Iraqi & Syrian refugee kids are involved with.

The Club is committed to promoting activities to growing refugee youth in Dallas, Broadmeadows, Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park.

With significant membership growth, the Club needs to improve facilities which will build greater opportunities for sports participation, inclusion of refugee youth, strong local connections and improved well-being of newly arrived refugee families.

Our daughter plays for Upfield. She loves her team and we all feel part of a bigger family. In winter, the teams train on weeknights and play the odd friendly match after school in very dark conditions. Better lighting would be greatly appreciated. Improved facilities would also inspire pride, professionalism and confidence in our players.
