Building a permanent covered shade area over the hard courts at Wangaratta West Primary School to create an outdoor sporting centre for community members of the West End to utilise and enjoy all year round. This shaded sports centre will allow activities to be held in winter and summer, increasing the health and wellbeing of children, and linking community involvement with positive sporting programs.
This project will create many positive outcomes, including:
our growing community hosting events such as concerts, fetes, and parades, as well as external community groups hosting events and activities
our children accessing significantly expanded and enhanced learning spaces
our children feeling safe and being able to play all year round increasing overall health and wellbeing
for use by community groups or organisations including sporting & community groups such as netball, hockey, basketball, tennis.

Such a great school deserves this necessary addition to the school yard. There is little cover for the kids to play in the summer months and this would not only protect them but also encourage more physical activity. Bonuses all round.
