The open space between 108 and 110 Elizabeth St currently includes a basketball court, a small playground and a BBQ facility, but approximately 1/3 of the space is an empty patch of grass. This is the location of the proposed open air stage.
An open air stage could have music on Friday nights, local yearly events like the Moon Lantern Festival could avoid hiring a stage and the local kids could include performances in their imaginative play. In summer the local community band could also use it for their open mic nights while families enjoy a bbq dinner.
The open air stage will benefit the local community by activating a currently underused space. It will also;
- Facilitate local music and theatre performances
- Encourage community creativity
- Eliminate stage hire costs for community events
- Provide a focal point for meetings
- Increase arts awareness
- Encourage tenants to engage with with their neighbors
- Provide a space for children to play in a different way
- Provide reasons for local members of the community, who don't live on the estate, to visit and and feel more comfortable in the space.

great suggestion. How will the stage be maintained?
Fantastic idea - great grounds to share with the neighbourhood!

Interesting idea - have you got permission to use the space? And will the stage be there all year - How will you keep it safe from vandalism etc? Would you require ongoing income to maintain it?
